Leaf fun!

What better way to celebrate learning about leaves than to play in a leaf pile!! Of course, the Korean adjushis I asked to get us leaves don't understand why we want to play in dirty leaves but we don't care. We sure have fun!

Leaf Investigators

After we went on our leaf hunt, we were leaf investigators and use our eyes to spy characteristics of the different kinds of leaves.
Mathias shows us a bunch of little leaves.
Sophia shows us a stem with three leaves. She called it a three leaf clover.
Yong Suk shows us an acorn he found. It was really rough and bumpy.

Sofie shows us a red leaf.
First we sorted our leaves by size- big and small.

The we decided to sort them by colors- red, green, brown, yellow, and many colors.

We also tried sorting them by their shape and putting the ones that looked the same together.
We are awesome investigators! Even Ms. Sligh, the pre-K teacher heard us talking about our leaves in her classroom and came to tell us what a great job we did sorting our leaves!

We're going on a Leaf Hunt!

This week we are celebrating the season of fall and the beautiful leaves that are falling around campus. We went on a hunt around school to see if we could find some leaves.
Our goal was to find
- a red leaf
- a brown leaf
- a yellow leaf
- an orange leaf
- a green leaf
- an acorn
- a big leaf and a small leaf
We did pretty well finding the items on our list but we also found a lot more in between!

Look what's in our bag!

Leaf Men

We read the book Leaf Man by Lois Elhert. It shows how leaves can can be used to make pictures of people, birds, vegetables, mice, and many other things. We decided to make our own leaf men. Check them out!

Sara and Sophia did an awesome job with their leaf girls!

Scarecrows

This week we talked about harvest and scarecrows. I didn't get many pictures this week for some reason but here are a few.
Mathias and Lonne are matching scarecrows. They have to look very closely to see how the pictures are different.

We also played Build a Scarecrow. We had to build a scarecrow to look just like the picture we picked. When we were finished, we also got to build a scarecrow however we wanted to mix up the pieces.
